I wrote the following simple code to practice php mail.

$to      = 'nobody@example.com';
$subject = 'the subject';
$message = 'hello';
$headers = 'From: webmaster@example.com' . "\r\n" .
    'Reply-To: webmaster@example.com' . "\r\n" .
    'X-Mailer: PHP/' . phpversion();

mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
?>

But when running the web page display the following warning
Warning: mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in D:\AppServ\www\mail.php on line 9

What the changes should done in php.ini file to avoid this problem please.

You need to install a mail server, usually on linux is sendmail, if you want to try there is a porting for Windows: http://glob.com.au/sendmail/

Or just search for a mail server that works in command line.

In readme file it's written
Installation
------------
Copy "varinsert" directory into "plugins" subdir of your SPAW v.2 installation

I don't find the pulgins subdir
can you guide please.

Place your gmail username and password.
Make sure openssl extension should be available.

I have some questions.
what do you mean by domain
and what do you mean by openssl
If I understand you right then I should have a web site hosted on Internet to practice mail sending and receiving Isn't true?
