A career is what you make out of it. A top level PHP dev is going to be succesfull. It all depands on how smart you are and what you can do for your employer. Bottom line just cause someone titles there self as any profession they dont mean shit till they prove them self worthy. All IT jobs for the most part make good salary. Do what you want to do. If web coding is where your heart is at go for it. Just pick something that you think you would enjoy doing and feel accomplished.
