Basically this is the problem:

I was using Microsoft Visual C++ on my old computer that had Windows 98 installed on it and I had no problems. Now I have a new computer with Windows XP and I am still using Microsoft Visual C++ Introductory edition.

The problem is, once I create a program and click on compile, it will compile just fine the FIRST time. But, once I click on link, it starts "linking" and never finishes. I have left the computer running for half an hour and it won't link a small program. Not only that, but the program freezes and I have to control + alt + delete to close it.

If I load the program back up it will do the same thing when I click on compile.

So, does anyone have any idea whats wrong? Or perhaps a link to a decent/free compiler that I could use?

Thanks.

I've never heard of your problem before. Sorry.

www.google.com. Search for Dev-C++ or Bloodshed.
