I have had a crash on my laptop. On start-up it will not go beyond the "Welcome" window. Any and all input will be appreciated. I can do simple things but do not know the best way to get this fixed.

Try pressing f8 before it boots and select last known good configuration.

thanks, I had already tried that to no avail. it has since completely crashed and i had to buy a new hard drive, not cheap, SATA.
