ok, so my computer was working fine the night before. but today when i turned my computer on it says "disc boot failure, insert system disc and press enter." I tried an old Hard drive in it and it worked.

im just wondering if anyone could tell me if its the hard drive or windows

thx

If you can see the hd listed correctly in the bios it is probably a software issue. Boot to the recovery console from the os cd and run fixboot, and chkdsk /r to fix any file system errors.

it just says "disc boot failure, insert system disc and press enter." when i press enter.

If you can boot to cd, boot to the Windows cd and choose the recovery console option. Run chkdsk /r and fixboot. If that doesn't do it your drive is probably toast.

make sure your hdd is detected by the bios...or try to open up you pc make sure there is no loss connection or whatsoever...
