Ok im looking at geting a new HDD abd ve seen one i like but its advertised as "SATA II". I have a 05/06 Dell with SATA is it likeley this will be this "SATA II" or an older version?

We have not seen any SATA !!'s in Dells made before November 1.

you must be wrong. Wikipedia defines SATA I as 1.5gb/s sec abd SATA II as 3gb/s. I have a custom dimesnion 5150 purchased christmas last year and it achieves 3gb/s transfer rate - therefore i conclude it uses SATA II
