I cannot get my Acer 2300 laptop to boot from the Recovery CD.
I've made the appropriate change in the BIOS so that the laptop boots up with (a) CD , (b) Floppy, (c) Network, and (d) Harddrive.
However, the unit continues to boot up from the harddrive.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Change the boot to just cd then HDD.

For some reason, the settings require all 4 items to be present (cd, floppy, network, and HDD) but not necessarily in that order. I had previously tried to remove "floppy" and "network" but was unable to; hence the reason for moving HDD to the bottom of the list.

well make it cd then hdd then floppy then network.

I'm pretty sure I tried this before but I'll try it again and will let you know.
