Sorry - I'm not yet experienced in your methodoogy. My Dell Inspiron 5000e has recently begun performing everything unreasonably slow. Booting, loading apps, changing online sites, changing screens to answer email, etc. Every process is taking an extended time. It literally takes several (5?) minutes from boot to opening the desktop. I recently installed the Norton AntiVirus (only) from Norton Systemworks 2004. I am told this program has compatibility problems with Win2K.

I've done what I know to do: cleaned the disk, emptied cache & temps, defraged, run AdAware, Spybot S&D, Norton AntiVirus. That's about the limit of my skills. I posted the log at the suggestion of my son who admires your services from his experiences with you. Thanks in advance for any observations, comments or suggestions.

I used to run Norton but never experienced that bad a slow down. Try going here to see what you can disable from startup. See what else you can configure to not start at start up (like Winzip) to help speed up the startup. My W2K takes about 2.5 minutes to boot.
