ReHello everyone.

I have a major problem on my comp. A hijacker has taken over my desktop. The background is all blue and says there is Security Warning. Also there is a bunch of unwanted icons on the desktop i can get rid of. They say things like party poker, big tits, and cruises... Anyway here is my hijack this logfile. I ran Ad-aware SE before i ran hijack this. I hope you can help. TIA.

Ok, let's go...

-

Download the Hoster.
Run it and press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.
Note that if you have a custom host file, this will remove it. You can edit the host file with this program too.

==============

Download CWShredder 2.14 from here. Run it and press the *fix,* not scan and allow it to clean the infection. Close all browser and explorer windows before hitting the fix button.

===============

Run HiJackThis, click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://freehqmovies.com/search
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.specialgoods.info/ad/ad0058/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,SearchURL = http://69.50.184.51/find4u/sp.htm

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

F1 - win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\..\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MICROS~1\MSInfo\info32.exe

O2 - BHO: YBIOCtrl Class - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)

O9 - Extra button: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {9CD3645B-0661-4B8C-8296-6E7F57D17371} - (no file) (HKCU)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {9CD3645B-0661-4B8C-8296-6E7F57D17371} - (no file) (HKCU)

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Reboot.

===============

After rebooting your PC, rescan with hijackthis and post a new log.
Let me know how things are now.

Got rid of the hosts in the logfile, but the desktop is still the same with all the unwanted icons and the blue security warning background. Dont think its fixed quite yet.
Here is the new logfile. Thanks for your help.

Download Killbox v2.0.0.175 and unzip the file to your Desktop and have it ready to use.

-

Save all the below files to a text document (notepad) to be used shortly.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\param32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\default.css
C:\Documents and Settings\John\Desktop\Remove Spyware.url
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wldr.dll
C:\bsw.exe

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\guninst.exe

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows and hit the "Fix checked" button.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.specialgoods.info/ad/ad0058/

Open the text file you saved previously and right click and drag your cursor over the files to highlight them and then use Control+C to copy them to the clipboard..
Open KILLBOX and go to File...."Paste From Clipboard". All the files should now appear in the box (click on the Tab and check to make sure that only the files I have identified as malware and marked for deletion are there) . Then checkmark the "Delete on Reboot" box..and click the red X. You will get a message saying "File will be deleted on next reboot" , Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" and post a new log when you have rebooted.

Before scanning with hijackthis again, delete the following folder;

C:\Program Files\Common Files\plntrnjb

Okay i followed all the steps. When i went to paste from clipboard to the killbox in SAFE MODE. It only pasted five of the eight file paths. So i manually typed in the other three and deleted them one by one. Then i pasted from clipboard and deleted the other five.

The results:

The desktop background is no longer blue with the security warning. So that is good. I deleted all the unwanted icons on my desktop and they seem to be gone. The red x that was popping up in the icon tray is now gone. And the popups that used to say my desktop is hijacked seems to be gone. However internet explorer's homepage still defaults to specialgoods.info

Here is my new hijackthis log:
