Hello and thanks to anyone who can give advise. This virus has somehow infected my computer at work which is on a network but I believe our network is safe. I can't get rid of this damn thing cause it keeps regenerating. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1. Please uninstall WeatherBug and Surf Sidekick through your Add/Remove Programs control panel; both programs have adware/spyware components.

2. Please follow these Aurora removal instructions fully and carefully:

You will need to disconnect from the Internet for most of the cleaning procedures, so you should print out the following instructions or save them into a text file using Notepad.

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us/easyfile/file.php?download=20050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

- Click on the "Config" button in the lower right corner of HijackThis' main window.

- In the next window click on the "Misc Tools" button at the top then click the "Delete an NT service" button. Type the following in the box and click OK:

svcproc

- Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extentions for known file types".

- Locate and delete the following files (soe of these might have already been cleaned out):
C:\WINNT\Nail.exe
C:\WINNT\System32\ATPartners.dll
C:\WINNT\systb.dll
C:\WINNT\System32\lmf32v.dll
C:\WINNT\System32\nvms.dll
C:\WINNT\System32\msbe.dll
C:\WINNT\wupdt.exe
c:\winnt\system32\feieiz.exe
C:\WINNT\svcproc.exe

-
Locate and delete the following folders entirely:
C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3
C:\Program Files\MyWebSearchWB
C:\Program Files\AWS

- For every user account listed under C:\Documents and Settings, delete the entire contents of the following folders (but not the folders themselves):

(Important: One of the normal steps in eliminating malicious programs is to entirely delete the contents of all Temp folders. Given that, if any data that you care about is living in those Temp folders, you need to move it to a safe location now, or it will be erased along with everything else!)

1. Cookies
2. Local Settings\Temp
3. Local Settings\History
4. Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

- Delete the entire content of your C:\Windows\Temp folder.

- Delete the entire content of your C:\Windows\Prefetch folder.

Note- If you get any messages concerning the deletion of system files such as desktop.ini or index.dat, just choose to delete those files; they'll be automatically regenerated by Windows if needed. Windows will allow you to delete the versions of those files which exist in sub-folders within the main Temp/Temorary folders, but might not let you delete the versions of those files that exist in the main Temp folders themselves; this is normal and OK.

- Empty your Recycle Bin.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Sorry for the delay. Below is the highjackthis log file I just ran and below is the Ewido scan from safemode before I did the "fix checked" in highjack this.
How am I doin'?

You were pretty well infested there :(. It's looking better, but there are still some things to do.

Scan with hijackthis and have it fix the following entries:

Remember to close any open windows before hitting Fix checked.

Go to the following locations and delete the highlighted files and folder:

C:\WINNT\ptcore.exe
C:\winnt\system32\hvonyug.exe
C:\winnt\system32\iyqjbmp.exe

C:\WINNT\wt

Do a search for these and delete any instances found:

BargainBuddy
Neededware
BetterInternet

Please follow the suggestions in these threads:

http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread27519.html

http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread27570.html

Go to c:\winnt\system32, locate ivefxg.exe, right-click on it, go to Properties, and give us whatever info you can on it (company, version, etc.) in your next post.

Follow the instructions here to be sure you are rid of 'neededware':
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.neededware.html

Also, you may wish to consider disabling CTHELPER.EXE -- quote from sysinfo:
"CTHELPER is a background task that is a plug-in manager for Creative drivers. The theory is that 3rd party manufacturers can use the CTHELPER plug-in interface to produce drivers, add-on features, and fixes that will integrate with a tighter fit with Creative’s sound drivers and utilities. Given its purpose CTHELPER would normally be classified as a "leave alone" background task. It also allows Creative speaker setup to be synchronized with Windows Control Panel speaker setting. Without it running that check box in Creative speaker setting is not functional (settings are not in sync). Unfortunately there are often problems with CTHELPER, most notably that it can use 100% of CPU time so it's best left disabled unless you need it."

When you've finished, please close any open browser windows, scan with HJT, and post a new log.

Here is the log file. I searched high and low for the file ivefxg.exe and couldn't find it but I DO have all files showing. If there is anything else I could do to help let me know! Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

You can have HJT fix this entry:

That's about all I see. Have you followed the suggestions in the links in my previous post yet?

I haven't dowloaded all of the programs but I reviewed the posts. Now I just got a warning from Symantec that says the betterinternet stuff is in my windows restore folder. How can I get rid of these?
