Hello!

About 5months ago my computer was working just fine then one day I received a pop up to update my Dell Support. Since then I can get online, however I can not log onto secure sites. ie- Yahoo Mail, Google Mail... basically anywhere that requires you type in a password and username. The diagnostic says:

warn HTTPS: Error 12029 connecting to www.microsoft.com: A connection with the server could not be established
warn HTTPS: Error 12029 connecting to www.passport.net: A connection with the server could not be established
info HTTP: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com.
info FTP (Passive): Successfully connected to ftp.microsoft.com.
error Could not make an HTTPS connection.

But my connection is fine. I've tried EVERYTHING! I deleted files from my computer, went into Internet Opts and made sure everything was unchecked under LAN settings, I even tried to restore my computer to its last working state but none have worked.

Any suggestions?? I'm all out of ideas

Sounds as if an infection has changed your LAN settings. Go to Internet Settings, Connections, LAN button and make sure there are NO check marks in there. Ok your way out and attempt to connect. If you can then follow all the steps in our Read Me sticky and post back here with all the logs.

Yeah, like the brother above says, it's pretty simple, just revert to your default internet connection settings. If anything in your Internet Connection settings look suspicious, than change it. If that doesn't work, than post your results, and we will help you from there.

Go into Internet explorer ->click on tools ->click on internet options -> Advanced -> reset advanced settings. Hope this helps

Reset your internet explorer settings.

Those steps are incorrect for this situation. If you are going to post instructions please be certain they are correct.

Reset your internet explorer settings.

This post is unnecessary. This same advice has been given twice all ready.

THIS post is unnecessary, my eyes are just as good as yours. simply backing up what a previous posted has said, is not unnecessary -__-

Unfortunately, it would not let me run the MalwareBytes’ Anti-Malware. My internet connection was blocked

Hope this helps...

Go into Internet explorer ->click on tools ->click on internet options -> Advanced -> reset advanced settings. Hope this helps

rangarecon

Thank you for your response however it did not help with my particular computer problem

Download Dial-a-Fix and run it. Select the 'Check all' (green arrow) and then hit 'GO.'
Reboot when done and see how things are now.

try to use <snip>.....it is a utility and has potential to clean terrible infestations. i have used it quite often. just disable ur antivirus and run it...follow all instructions and do not opt for windows recovery console when asked for.

HOPE this gets ur PC back on track

uninstall the security updates or restore your pc to back date
