Hi all
I havent been on here for a problem in awhile but now I have problems arising. For the last week or so my comp has been running very slowing and for some reason my conn keeps lagging very badly or losing conn all together every 3-5 mins and Ive been getting some annoying popup for filost.com and nothing has worked so far. I've run Adaware Se and Spybot and use AVG to scan. Ive used Panda scan and tried to download Ewido but lose conn before the D/L completes. So i figured I would ask here and get some opinions. I suspect something is on my system but not sure what it is and why its causing problems with my dialup. This is my first time using HJT so If i need to redo something please tell me, but I read alot of the forums and tried to get it setup like they said.
Any help is appreciated and here is the HJT log.

Hi,
Download CCleaner and install it. Do not run it now!

Download and install Ewido Security Suite v3.5. After download, double click on the file to launch the install process. During installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu". Launch ewido by double-clicking the "e" icon on your desktop. The program will prompt you to update - click the "OK" button. On the left side of the main screen, click on "Update" and then click "Start Update". The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. After the updates are installed, you will see "Update Successful" in the lower left corner.
If you are having problems with the updater, use this link to manually update.
Exit Ewido when done - DO NOT perform a scan yet.

Make Windows to show all files:-
Go to Start > My Computer. Go to Tools menu, click Folder Options. Uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Then, click to select the option Show hidden files and folders. Click Apply and then click OK to exit.

Reboot in Safe Mode:-
Restart (or switch ON) the PC. Then, keep tapping the F8 Key.
From the menu that will be displayed, out of which choose Safe Mode and press Enter.

Run HijackThis and click Do only a System scan.
Then put a check mark infront of below listed entries:-

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&ar=iesearch

Close all other open programs except Hijackthis and click the button Fix Checked in HijackThis.

Exit from HijackThis. Delete these files:-
C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbsys2.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\usbn.exe
c:\ex.cab
c:\eied_s7.cab

Run CCleaner, click "Options" button and here go to "Advanced" tab and uncheck the option "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours". Click OK to exit from the Options. Finally click "Run Cleaner" and click "OK" to continue cleaning.

Run Ewido, click on the "Scanner" button in the left menu, then click on the "Settings", here select the option "Scan every file" and click "OK". Next, click "Complete System Scan" button to start scan. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "Clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.

Reboot to Normal Mode. Perform an online virus scan at Kaspersky Online Scanner. Save the log it gives after the scan.

Run HijackThis again, click Do a System scan and save log, and post the fresh log along with the Kaspersky log.

Hi swatkat,
Thanks for responding. I started doing what you said. I changed the hidden files and folder options and did the HJT scan only and this one did not show up this time :

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{6E86B8A5-6480-4BF8-A12D-0B318B0813A5}: NameServer = 166.102.165.11 166.102.165.13

so i checked the rest that did and hit the fixed checked button then exited HJT.
I then went to the C: drive into the system32 folder and deleted this one :

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbsys2.dll

But could not find these anywhere on my system :

C:\WINDOWS\system32\usbn.exe
c:\ex.cab
c:\eied_s7.cab

I looked manually in the C: drive,Sytem32 and my computer still nothing turned up. Was I doing that right? Hope i wasnt supposed to be editing registry or anything. I dont get into my comp like this normally because i dont know much about that and dont wanna mess up my system. Anyway when i couldnt find those files I stopped and didnt even run CC until i can find out what to do or if im doing something wrong. Just tell me how to proceed and I can run a new HJT log and post it .

Thanks

Hi Vasago,
If you didnt find those files, then its no problem. There's a possibility that those files have been deleted by background scanners of AntiVirus software. Please proceed with the stpes and post back a fresh HijackThis log file and also Kaspersky Online Scanner log file.

Ok.. I did what you said and heres the Kaspersky log and the new HJT log

But, before removing them using HijackThis, disable the Tea Timer of SpyBot SnD, as it prevents changes to Registry.

After removing them, please post a new log. Also, is the PC working fine?

The system is running a bit better..internet still lagging alot though. Also the one entry on the log showed up again this time and i havent a clue what it is. Heres the new log

Hi,
Log looks clean :)

The below entry is the Registry entry where the DNS server IP address is stored. The IP address in the below entry points to ALLTEL Internet Service Providers.

[O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{6E86B8A5-6480-4BF8-A12D-]0B318B0813A5}: NameServer = 166.102.165.11 166.102.165.13

Also, try using alternate browsers like Opera and/or FireFox (both are free), they are faster, secure and feature rich than Internet Explorer.

TY for your help. I would like to try FireFox but I have no clue how to install it or set it up to use..im just so used to IE, its all ive ever used

Hi,
They are easy to use. Just download Opera or FireFox Setup file from the above mentioned files and then run it. The browser will be installed in the default location (in Program Files directory) and also Shortcut icons will be placed in Desktop and Start Menu. After that, the browser can be started by clicking the shortcut icons from Desktop or Start Menu. FireFox also provides a wizard to import the IE bookmarks.
