Hi everyone, I've been having a problem for a few months now with my laptop computer, which has become ridiculously slow of late. it often freezes up and just takes simple things forever to load, such as clicking on "my computer." i've run defrag, disk cleanup, spyware scans, and virus scans, all to no avail. I'm not sure that it's a virus/spyware problem, but i'm posting it on here because i can put up an HJT log. I'm not totally sure what specifics you guys need to diagnose the problem, but i'll post what i can... Thanks!!

Specs:
HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop, 2.8 ghz intel pentium 4 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 80 GB hard disk space (16.7 GB free)
Microsoft XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with SP2

Here's the HJT Log:

Hello ,log is clean !
HP computers do have a lot of stuff running at startup that is not necessary ,they are shown in the 04 section of the log ,you need to determin the one that are neccessary ,most aren't .and use hijackthis to disable them, like the one listed below just copy the exe in to google and search [like this , "HP Wireless Assistant.exe" with out the quotes ]it you should get info on wherther its need to run or just user choice.
This is what you shoud find with the search ,sometime it will be a different web site .
http://www.castlecops.com/s11875-hpWirelessAssistant.html
just use the search on this site ,check of to searck castle cop.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hpWirelessAssistant] "C:\Program Files\hpq\HP Wireless Assistant\HP Wireless Assistant.exe"

I'd go to add/remove programs and remove Viewpoint Manager f you didn't install it. You don't need it and it was more than likely installed without your permission.
