HiJAckThis log

HI, My computer has 400mhz, 448 mb, 31gb(supposed to been 80gb but motherboard can only take 30 gb I think) and I use Window XP. Everything is updated. I ran spybot s&d and adaware and still no luck from it. So I ran antivirus again just to make sure. I dont know what else to do but hopefully You, Crunchie, can see this and help me with this. So, Here's my hijackthis log...

Again, Thanks you guys are the best!

Unzip HJT into it's own permanent folder before doing anything in order for it to create backups. (Not a temporary folder or directly on the desktop & not directly on your hard drive). Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cus...rch/search.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cus...//www.yahoo.com

I cannot find any info on this one; C:\WINDOWS\System32\autofmat.exe<<<< if you know not what it is, end process on it in Task Manager & delete the file. It looks like some kind of auto format, but I've not seen it B4.

Is AOL your provider, or ALLTEL?
You also never stated what your problem is.

Hi Crunchie, Sorry about that. I use Alltel for DSL service and then I get online using AOL. Bec of where I live AOL does not provide DSL service.
The reason I wanted you to look at my hijackthis log is bec my cpu usage stayed up at 100% alot and its been slowing down my computer performance.
I deleted 2 of those item like you said. And for that autofmat.exe, I have never seen that before and does not know what its for. So I ended that process in Task manager and I am not sure where you want me to delete it from?
So here's updated hijackthis log

Hi Crunchie, I went to window
system32 like you said for me to do and I came across something that says autofmt.exe is part of operating system. It came from this --->Auto File System Conversion Utility....Originial file name was this --->AUTOCONV.EXE...
SO do I still delete this or is this important stuff? I'm confuse about this. What do you think crunchie? Thanks!

Hi. Ok. Don't do anything for now & I will get back when I get more info on it. Now I have that extra info I have more to go on. While I am trying to get the info, please do the following. Go to the autofmat.exe & right click on it. Select properties & get as much info as you can on the file, version, maker, created on, etc.
It could be something to do with converting the file system from FAT to NTFS, but I'm not sure.
I'll be back.

Hi, Here's the list of what I found for that autofmt.exe-->Product name: Microsoft Windows Operating System
File Version: 5.1.2600.0
(xpclient.010817-1148)
Internal Name: Autoconv

Looks to me like its something that has to function with operating system. What did you find out about it Crunchie? Again, Thanks!

Seems like it MAY be a legitimate file. Am awaiting a final answer from the experts.

Hi, ok Allright. Let me know the result so I can list the updated hijackthis log after this ok.
By the way, I am not sure on where to go after this about finding more info on my motherboard. I need to know if I can find make and model etc.. and more info on that to see if I can upgrade the processor or not on this motherboard. I cant any site that would give me info on that. Thanks!

Still waiting for a reply on that file, bear with me.
You can download freshdiagnose & that will give you heaps of info about your computer. Also do a google for *Belarc Advisor* which gives you a more basic rundown but might suit your needs.

Hey, Allright Crunchie. I checked out that website to find more infos about the processors and motherboard. I would need to instant message you or email you more infos on those so let me know if I can do that so I can show you what I need help on allright. Again, Thanks for the help man. Your the best!:D

The Belarc Advisor can be downloaded to your comp & it opens a page in your browser telling you the specs of your motherboard etc. Hardware is really not my Forte & I am not sure I would be able to advise you. You are welcome to post your query where you will have many more eyes view it.

Hey Crunchie, yeah thanks for the hook up for that website. I acutally got ahold of someone there and waiting to hear from them to give me advise about my motherboard to see if it is capable of upgrading processor and etc.. Thanks again Crunchie!:D

Cool. :) you are welcome

Did you ever find out what "autofmt.exe" is for, and is it needed? My XP failed to install that file, but everything seems to work anyway with FAT 32 system
