Hi,
I know lots of others have posted about this, but this was the easiest and quickest way to get some help!
The control panel has actually dissappeared off of the computer, I have run both anti-virus and spyware scans, and they have all come up with nothing!
Here is my hijack this logfile, hope you can help!

Hi and welcome to Daniweb forums :).

Can you please do the following.

===============

Download the newest version of HiJackThis; version 2.0.2. Place it in a permanent folder before scanning. Repost your log after following the steps below. This version has features that might be more helpful in 'cleaning' up your system.

===============

Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

O3 - Toolbar: &Save Flash - {4064EA35-578D-4073-A834-C96D82CBCF40} - I:\Save Flash\SaveFlash.dll (file missing)

O7 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1

O16 - DPF: {DECEAAA2-370A-49BB-9362-68C3A58DDC62} - http://static.zangocash.com/cab/Zang...d34af26c7c6dd9

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

To help protect your system from hostile ActiveX content, or special 'downloadable' files:

Download, install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster. If you've installed it for the first time:

1) Check for any available updates; if present, they'll be automatically downloaded and installed.
2) Next, "Enable all protection".
3) Exit the program.

-

Note: Remember to regularly check for updates.

===============

Please download and install AVG antispyware tool

  • Close all other Applications Select language click Ok
  • Click I Agree
  • Click next
  • Click Install
  • Click Finish
  • Wait and AVG antispyware will open to the main screen automatically.
  • Wait again a few minutes and AVG antispyware Should Auto update itself. If it doesn't click update at top of screen.
  • It is very important that you get updated
  • When updating has finished. Close AVG antispyware.

If you have an "always on" connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode.

  • Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear use arrow up to highlight
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.
  • For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site: HERE

    You MUST manage to get into Safe Mode for the fix to work.

Make sure to close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while AVG antispyware performs its scan!

  • Run AVG antispyware.
  • Click on scanner at top of AVG antispyware screen.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Under How to Act click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine.
  • Under How to scan all boxes should be selected.
  • Under Possibly unwanted software all boxes should be selected.
  • On right side under Reports: click on Do not automatically generate report after every scan.
  • Under What to scan select scan every file.
  • Click On scan Tab.
  • Click on Complete system scan.
  • Let the program scan the machine It can take awhile give it time.
  • When scan has finished at bottom of screen click Apply all Actions.
  • Click Save report
  • Click Save Report as (Save as window's screen should pop up.)
  • Click desktop.
  • Click Save.
  • Exit AVG antispyware.

Reboot back to normal mode.
Post the log here.

After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.

Thanks for the help, If you cannot help anymore, then I will simply do a comlete system wipe, which will definately get rid of the problem as we will also reinstall windows.

Thanks.

Download the attached zip file and unzip fixme.reg. Close all browser windows. Double click the file to run it and when asked if you want to merge with your registry, answer yes.
Reboot when done and check if the CP is back.

Run AVG antispyware again, but this time please follow my instructions regarding how to run it :).

Hi,
The CP is back, and I have access to everything again, and by the way, I did everything you told me in AVG, i printed off the page, and followed thte instruction while i set the options, and I checked again when I read your post, they are exactly as YOU said they should be!
But thanks for solving my problem!

and by the way, I did everything you told me in AVG, i printed off the page, and followed thte instruction while i set the options, and I checked again when I read your post, they are exactly as YOU said they should be!

Sorry, but you couldn't have done. The following entry from the log tells me that you set it to take no action;

HKU\S-1-5-21-1454471165-1788223648-839522115-1006\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{4A2AACF3-ADF6-11D5-98A9-00E018981B9E} -> Adware.NewDotNet : No action taken.

My instructions were;

Under How to Act click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine.

AVG would have quarantined that entry had it been set to do so :). Entry needs removing so I suggest you run it as I recommended.

==

Anyway, glad you never had to reformat :D

Hi,
Sorry, well, now it is set to qurantine, and I will run it again, should I run it in safe mode again, or don't I have to.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, you've been a great help!

Thanks again!

Safe mode is best as there is not much running then. If you wish though, try it in normal mode and see if it quarantines the entry found on your first run. If it does, you'll be ok :).

Good aftwenoon. I am too having the same problems with my control panel and after i downloaded the "fixme" zipped file and try to run it I am getting this error.

"Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator"

Prior to that, I followed the instructions and the problem was not fixed so i am trying to run the registry thing. Please help.
