Need more details. What os you have. What happened before the error. It looks like from what I understand its a java related issue. Maybe try to download it again and install. Or uninstall it and reinstall. My first quess would be download and try to reinstall if possible. Have you run all the virus and spyware checks? Which browser do you use?

Hi helloimtim,

I have a Dell, windows XP machine. I have run Norton anti-virus and it did not find any errors. I was on the net not doing anything exciting and when I closed the internet window there was an icon " hs_err_pid3704" on my desktop that was not there before. When I opened it I got the above message, which by the way is double Dutch to me. The message was displayed in Notepad. I have not run a spyware check. Can you recommend any that I can download?

Thanks a million for your help,

Laura.

Check what filetype the shortcut or what type of file the thing on the desktop was too. Might give a big clue. Also make sure u have updated ur virus definitions too. My guess is there was something wrong with whatever the shortcut points to.

Makes it sound like an error by someone else's bad java. Either that or u havn't updated ur Java, and there is a new function that's been included since.

Have you installed the latest Java Runtime Environment?

www.java.com

I'd give that a shot, and see what it comes up to.

I have just installed the latest Java Runtime Environment, but dont know if its a good thing or bad thing as no messages are coming up....

Laura.

If no error messages pop up, then that is good :)

Hopefully the problem is cleared up.

Thanks a million for all your help,

See (talk) ya soon,

Laura.
