I haven't been connected to the internet with my desktop since a week ago. It was ok before the day it happened. But on the next morning my mom said that the connection suddenly stopped when she was using it.

At first I thought that it's only a problem on my ISP but when I hooked up the ethernet cable on my laptop it appears that there is no problem with the DSL modem and the cable.

I tried finding solutions on the internet on how will I deal with it but to no avail. I already done this measures:

1. Turn OFF/ON the modem
2. Changed the cable
3. Reinstalled the Network Adapter's driver
4. Used the command line ipconfig /release and /renew
5. Tried reseting the WINSOCK and TCP/IP in the cmd
6. Used the Winsockxpfix.exe
7. Reinstalled Windows XP
8. Installed a new Network Adapter

Now I don't know what to do. I really need to know what the problems is.

Does this machine site behind a router or do you plug in directly to your ISP modem?

Can you ping the default gateway at 112.205.0.1?
Can you ping the DNS server at 125.106.5.2?
Can you resolve names at the DNS using NSLOOKUP?
Can you ping beyond those to 4.2.2.2?


If those all work, then check if someone turned on the Proxy in your browser.

All the pings were timed out and the is not turned on.

I don't know how you are proceeding, but let start from the beginning again. Depending on the operating system you are using, try to go to the
1- network and sharing center then try to locate the
2- manage network connection, now you should be able to see the list of all your connection,
3- locate the one we are interested in from you're ipconfig /all output I might say it is most likely your LAN connection.
4- right click on it and choose disable, after the connection is grey out right click on it again and click enable, this is the almost the same thing as using the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.
5- check whether you get a new ipconfig using the ipconfig /all from your command prompt or better click on the connection twice to open a connection property windows and this new windows click detail to see if your ip settings have been assigned by the DHCP server, make sure your computer is configured to use DHCP settings, to check that you can click twice on the connection once the connection property windows open click on properties/IPv4 configuration/make sure the Obtain an IP address automatically radio button is check.
6- If your PC has been able to get the IP setting that mean a ping to your gateway should be replying because for your earlier post your DHCP server is your gateway router too.
7- then try to ping the DNS again
8- and last ping the 4.2.2.2
9- If all this failed again do a tracert to 4.2.2.2, type tracert 4.2.2.2 and post the output here.

please if possible post the new ipconfig /all output, the ping sessions output and the traceroute output.

Very strange, thank for the output by the way, done a good job. But then I can see the ping to your gateway which should be at 112.205.0.1 and the tracert as recommended. Please do attach those documents and from there we will see what to do next.
