Have been trying to learn from some old documentation that I bought several years ago but did not persevere with!

Have Person class which compiles ok. The Employee class cannot find Person class in the extend statement, the BigCorp cannot find either the Person or Employee classes. All files are saved and compied in c:\LMSJava\BigCorp\

Can anyone help as I have come to a grinding halt.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hmm... Why would you put the BigCorp class in the package as well while you are going to use it? You may delete the package from the BigCorp class and move the class up one folder level. Then import those 2 classes from the package

import BigCorp.Person;
import BigCorp.Employee;

Also, what the exact errors you got? And please put your code in the [ code ] tag. It is difficult to read your code...

I have being trying to learn this language its like as if its really difficult to learn. I wish i could get a tutor or something.

public abstract class Person

there's your issue.
you can not instantiate an abstract class in Java
