I need some help with excel macros. I am a beginner so I dont know much about writing my own macros but what i need is a macro that can read a particular cell's contents from an excel sheet then search in the directory tree and retrieve the document which contains the code as part of the file name.

You need it to search the entire drive, for a file name that contains the string in a specific cell of an excel document?

Well not not the entire drive i can especify a folder where it has to search and retrive the document. basically the code or Id in the excel sheet is suppose to be course ID and what its suppose to retrieve or pull from the drive is the course description document of that particular course with that particular course code. So I can put all the description docs. in one particular folder and it can scan through that only, if that makes the process any easier.
