i have windows 2008 r2 server , and am trying to convert my videos from any type to mp4 format and everything is fine in local when am trying to do the same live webserver , Am able to upload the file and then when i try to convert the file it says the file access is denied. steps which i tried to sort but no clue pops the same server 1)changed the identity to network service /localhost . 2)gave full permission to the folder 3)created virtual directory. 4)impernation is true. done all these stuffs but no response, but one thing which i found was for eg :c:\inetpub\vhosts\mydomainname\httpdocs\myfolder_to save_uploaded_file which is readonly by default i cudnt change them to all permission please advice how to change them to read/write.btw am trying to save the converted file to c:\inetpub\vhosts\mydomainname\httpdocs\test_folder Thanks for your time

I wouldn't recommend what you are doing by you do that, your server is at a security risk. I would do that on a separate computer then transfer to the server.

windows 2008 r2 server isn't built to do it only store data.

Hi, thanks for your reply, i agree with u , but my client is looking for a procedure which should mimic like youtube , upload video in webpage which should convert into .mp4 format so that it can play in webpages and mobile fones as well.so what i did was to upload the video and i would call the uploaded video ad convert it to .mp4 format, btw am using ffmpeg to convert. so in this case my video gets upload but cannot convert them as it pops access denied error. pls advice.

HI , i fixed up the error might help others when playing with ffmpeg, so what i wen twrong was in vitrual dir so again created a new virtual dir with full access permission for anonymous user and upload the video files and also the ffmpeg source , my prob was with ffmpeg exe file the access was denied as it was under admin control copied it inside my vitual folder so that made sense. :)
