We have an important business contact in China whom we have communicated with by email for years. As of the past few weeks, we cannot send an email to this business successfully. We get the message delayed and then subsequent failed to deliver 4.4.7 message. We are running exchange 2003, and can email anyone else without issue, including other contacts in foreign countries. Also, we can email the important Chinese contact with a gmail account, just not through our corporate exchange. My conclusion is that "we can email everyone else with no problem from Exchange" and "gmail gets through" = …

Hi All, Two questions really: 1. Is Windows 2003 still supported? (With all the fuss about XP support ending, I'm not sure if I missed it) 2. We have an old Windows 2003 Small Business Server as our domain controller, Exchange server and file server which is coming to the end of it's life. We also have a Hyper-V (not service but bare bones server) with an iSCSI connection to a NASbox for the VM disks. I'm thinking of creating an Exchange VM and Maybe getting another NASbox to use as a file server. But I'm not sure what to …

I'm running Exchange 2003 in my company; every 2 days it seems I get a call from a user stating a message is stuck in their outbox or they are not getting new mail. In all cases, restarting the information store and MTA stacks immediately clears the problem and gets mail coming and going again, for about another 2 days. Initially I thought maybe the exchange database was getting too large; we run a journal mailbox. I archived this out, and it still did it to me today. What needs to be done to correct this recurring issue? It has …

I have 326 email addresses that I would like to add to a distribution group. Basically, from Outlook, I want to type the name of the group, say "research", and have my message automatically go out to all 326 e-mail addresses. I also need it to be blind, meaningch recipient does not see everyone else's address. How do I set this up in Exchange / Active Directory? I know the basics. What are the absolute limits of # of recipients in exchange 2003 for a distribution list? Thanks

Hey all, I have split an Access database not on the server. I have decided to VBA code the links, however I have reached a stall when attempted to VBA code the update query; updating the remote table with data from the local temporary table. I have tried multiple things and the final state it is in is shown below:
DoCmd.RunSQL ("UPDATE TBLRemote IN '" & path & "', TBLLocal SET " & _ "(TBLRemote.[UpdateField] = [TBLLocal]![UpdateField]+1 WHERE . . .) ;")
path is the connection to the remote database, however this is not correct syntax. I am …

Every 2 hours my server will power down. I just recently installed the 2003 OS. I only used the first disc for the installation. There are no scheduled tasks and the power management settings are fine. Its not a heat issue because it will reboot immediately afterward. I would think this is a software issue, however I am not sure where to start.:(

My antivirus scanner found a few viruses with on our exchange server. The files had a .eml extension and they were located in the " \Progam Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi2\UceArchive" folder. I assume they are emails, but what is this folder for and why are there 2GB of .eml files in it?

OK so I found an old server laying around our company that has win2k3 Standard x86 SP1 OEM channel. After a few days of tinkering and my boss remembering a few old passwords I regained access to the machine. However, we can't find any software or manuals for the machine. It has a valid license which I plan to extract and eventually use on faster hardware but I need the CD that matches the version that is installed. The exact version is: Windows Server 2003 Standard x86 SP1(or SP2) OEM Channel. Please if anyone can help me out I just …

Hi, this is the case, I have a Win 2003 server with scsi RAID controller; this server has a usefull special, not frecuently used application but the installer for this application are no longer available. Now the server (as a machine) is a waste, because it is only turned on only when the application is requiered (about 4 times a year and by 5 to 8 hours each time). Years before, this server was the core of a company organization, now it has no reason to exist, except for getting historical information. The idea is to: 1) use the server …

Im trying to work out how to do a project called pig latin in vb.net 2003... so far I've gotten it to work for a single word. If there are spaces it still acts like there is only one word with the rules (ex: monkey stuff = onkey stuffmay) I know that i have to figure a way to seperate the string up if there is a space and do the rules for pig latin for each word and then make it show up in a message box but I'm stuck... as soon as i can get it to split …

Just bought Windows Server 2003 on Ebay. The seller now tells me that it is an OEM version and asks if I would want a refund. What would be the difference? My intention is to install it on VM Ware and possibly try to virtualize it in the future. What is the downside of this purchase if the install is on a virtual machine where applications are not supposed to be aware of hardware environments? Additionally, are there any legal entaglements?

I have spent a little time on Technet, and will be spending more. But I wanted to ask if anyone knew of a website that had "summaries" of steps required to config (or checklists for config) of server 2008 (or server 2003 for that matter). What I mean is, if I go to technet, I end up paging through several web pages b/c they all cover different versions of different types of server 2008, and or with or without certain hardware configs... etc. so you end up reading a LOT. IF I have a server 2008r2 and downloaded their trial …

That should be: "Unable to modify shared files and folders." I am running Active Directory on a Windows Server 2003 Standard (SP2) machine. I added an external hard drive to hold shared files. I didn't have an problem moving the files from their original location on the server's internal HDD. However, I am no longer able to modify the files or folders from any machine except the server itself. The Windows Vista message I receive when trying to create a new folder is "You need permission to perform this action." I can view and open files but they open read-only. …
