Have an HP8309 laptop. Works fine, but the sound cuts in and out and is "statically". At Best Buy, was told bad sound card and not repairable or replaceable on a lap top. Should buy a USB or PCMIA sound board which plugs into USB socket on side of unit. That would allow speakers to be plugged in and would get quality sound. Is this correct? Will it improve internal sound as well as external speakers? Which should I buy and where? Live in Vancouver BC, near Richmond. Have not found a place on the web that stocks them near me. Help! Darn kid is driving me nuts 'till I fix this!

it will not improve the sound card you have now ,will replace it ,and you will need to install external speakers ,i do believe .do you have a Radio Shack/Source store near you they will have or be able to get you something .
