so i just purchased all the parts needed for a new computer and when i put them all together and pressed the power switch the processor fan turned half a rotation and then it looks like the power was cut. its not the power supply because ive tried two diferent ones. does it matter that im using a reset switch from an older computer? i thought they were the same type of switch. i dont know what to do please help!

Disconnect all non essential hardware and start with a barebones system. If the system starts up, connect all other devices one by one until you encounter the problem again. The last connected device is the trouble maker.

Typically, I've seen this problem due to faulty RAM, faulty HDD, or faulty PSU.

try shorting it manually to sort.. depdning on ur mobo there will be instructions on shorting the motherboard to start.... see if the fan spins...
