I recently purchased a new laptop with built in wi-fi, bout do not know alot about wireless routers. I wondered if maybe someone can make some suggestions about a good wireless router that can keep up with my dsl!

They have all kinds of wireless routers if you want to go take a gander.

54mbps seems like it would be kinda slow

You won't notice. Your dsl is probably something like 3mbps down, 750kbps up or something like that, so unless you do a lot of internal file sharing, you won't notice a slow down on the internet.
