Cloned Harddrive not directly bootable

Compaq Presario 1255, successfully running Windows 2000, despite Compaq stated limitation of W95, W98, WMe.

After Upgrading original 4.3gb hard drive to 10.6Gb cloned hard drive,
Larger drive will not boot directly, but is accessible by first booting to floppy...

Thanks for any suggestions to achieving bypass of the floppy?

Can you boot to a Windows 2000 CD? You might need to go into Recovery Console and do a FIXBOOT command:

Followed by a FIXMBR command:

Currently unable to enter a newly installed cmdcons (recovery console), bad, or missing hal.dll. A prior cmdcons allowed entry and executed both fixboot and fixmbr, but no help.
