Hi,
I have Biostar u866d socket 478 with celeron d, 2 ide hdd, cdrw and cdrom. I was trying to replace cdrw with dvdrw, and now anything that is on the 2nd ide channel is not visible, even on bios. I played with jumpers, capble position etc, and after many attempts, it recognized drives in the original condition (cdrom, cdrw). Well, I tried to put dvdrw again, this time only to carefully replace cdrw with dvdrw without disturbing others, but it is gone again. Now, I cannot bring them back!
Did I mess up something on the mother board? DVDrw works fine as an external drive.

see if you can get the dvdrw to work on the 1st ide channel. Remove one of your hd. If it is seen you should check your ribbons, maybe reset cmos. Test a HD on 2ond ide channel.
