Mouse Problems in windows XP

The hour glass feintly goes on and off periodically on the screen.Otherwise it works fine.Optic Mouse hooked up to the usb port. I dont know why it happens, I just know it cant be right.I hope this is enough info.

If what you re asking is, am I running a program or using the mouse,the answer is no. The pointer just sits there when this happens.
I am able to go through any function with the mouse,it all works,but this problem with the hour glass appearing and diappearing,is annoying and cant be right. As far as programs running in the backround,I am not a computer genius but im sure McAfee is running. As far as McAfee is concerned ,I spoke to Dell And the techie thought it was a file from McAfee and he wanted me to delete it, but I was reluctant to do so,so I didnt delete. I think the file name was MCRDSVC. I hope this helps you out .

The hourglass means that system is busy. Why would it be busy if nothing apparent is going on? Best way to help you out with this is that you download hijackthis and post the log here (just copy/paste it or zip it into attachment). This way I'll be able to help you if you have some unwanted process going, like spyware or adware.

After i Got this file,an error message popped up saying that Hijack this zip file is corrupted or invalid. ????? Hope you have what you need.

There's another thing you can do.

You can check if the mouse pointers are changed from usual.

(Make sure you cahnge the control pannel to classic view.)

Control panel/mouse/pointers tab

You can change ponter sheme there. Might be just that.

Thanks for the quick response. I changed the pointer icon,no luck. I believe the error message came from McAfee. Dont know what to do now. One other thing,Itunes is not working. I had lost the icon ,I could nt find it in my system,except the files that I saved from it. I tried to reinstall and installation wont work. Im gonna try an older version like 7.1 Thanks again....................Dan

I think I have it solved. I found that Mcafee Spam Killer was missing a file. I un-installed then re-installed and everything seems to be working fine.
