Title pretty much says it all, I'm looking to do a small upgrade to my pc. I'm a pc gamer,and I wanna add a little more umph to my gameplay so I can get my money's worth out of my new gfx card. Here are my current PC specs...

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
1.80 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Board: 939Dual-SATA2 1.00
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. P2.20 06/09/2006
Geforce 7600GT 256mb
512mb RAM(x2)

I either want to get 2 sticks of 1GB RAM or a new cpu. Which will cause more of an increase in performance? I'm looking to spend around $100 for either upgrade, if possible.

If you're looking to spend around $100, I don't really think you can buy 2 new 1gb ram. Not sure about which will give you precisely more performance, but I think the cpu is more in need of an upgrade than the 1gb of ram.
