Is it possible to repair a PCMCIA slot whose connection to the motherboard is loose?

I assume that's the problem: my wireless card won't go on unless you press hard on the case from underneath in just the right spot. Then if you move the computer, the card shuts off and you have to press and squeeze some more.

- kinda like jiggling a loose knob on your stereo.

Compaq Presario 2100.....I've successfully taken it apart before to replace keyboard, touch pad, clean fan, but don't know how to solder, test circuits, etc.

many thanks

UPDATE:

I now think the problem may be a strip of metallic tape on the motherboard losing its stickiness.

I took this to the Motherboard forum coz that tape is on all motherboards, I think, and isn't specific to PCMCIA cards:

Hope it's to leave this thread here anyway.
