Password Protected Folder

Hi,

I am in need of a shared folder should have a password. While accessing that folder in LAN it should ask password needed and after entering password it should shows the files and others on it.

Help me regarding this matter in Linux (mainly on Centos 6.3 & Ubuntu 11.10).

Thanks in Advance.

Velhassan.
