Since I'm in the IT program at my school, I get a lot of MS products for free, and I noticed the ISO of SLED 10 on our website, and I'd love to run it on my machine. My question is, do I need to activate it to use, or can I just use it without paying?

this was long ago. I figured out you only need to activate it if you want the updates, but you can get free updates for 60 days. You can also just upgrade after every new release, so screw Novell for charging for updates.
