I am forgeting, what does this path means:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

does partition(1) means the primary partition or the other partition?

does fastdetect here means that the windows boots skipping the basic devices eg. mouse and keyboard?

Any help would be appreciated.

the path u showed is an boot.ini file this infromation is located in boot.ini file which contains the os information

and the answer for ur quetion is as follows

partition(1) is the location were ur os is installed

Unlike rdisk which counts physical disk units from zero and up, the Partitions number from one and up. So Partition(1) is the first partition in the physical order on the disk(0), and it is the partition that boot.ini is directing ntldr to in order to load the OS.
\WINDOWS is the OS's directory name.
The stuff in " " is just a descriptor, can be anything you like.
