Ok here's an odd little set up. I have two firends that live in a really cheap apartment building. It's not too bad. One bedroom, bath, living/dining room and tiny kitchenette (sp). Anyway here's some background.

The apt building is really old with really old cable wiring (RG-59). It can't support high speed through cable because you need atleast RG-6 for that. DSL is not an option as it's available (distance issues). They wanted to have one get cable and network them but because of an overly long contract with the current cable provider they can't get it. Apt says no holes for new lines. Luckily the contract will be up soon and TW and Comcast are looking at setting up new deals (which include new wiring, according to the apt mgr).

One of my friends had high speed at his parents' house with LAN and file/print sharing, and so on. They would like for one to get highspeed and just share the connection between their apts (right next to each other) and split the bill.

Seeing as they have a lot of the equipment they wanted to set up a small network to share files at least until they got high speed. They are both on dial up now (AOHell 9.0 Opt).

Here's the problem. Both have WinXP Home. PC1 is connected to a WRT54G router directly (wired) and PC2 has a wireless card (model unknown). Everytime PC1 tries to access the network or router config it tries to dial out (Firefox and IE keep whining). PC2 tries to connect then PC2 will try to dial out. Never dial a connection is set on both machines under Internet Options.

Any suggestions to stop them from dialing out?
