Hello folks,

I hope that I'm posting the thread in the right section lool

Well my problem is that I don't know a lot in network hardware devices, and unfortunately I need to work on one of those networking devices.

I'm working on a project where the outcome should be a network device that detect some covert channels. After successfully implementing the software it should be installed in a network box.

Here it comes my question. What is this box? from where can I get one? and what are their scientific names other than "box" @_@?

I'm seeking from some help and I hope to find it here,

are you meaning a server when u say a networking box/machine ??

Not sure myself :S

The networking machine should act as an IDS, so can I consider it as a server? If yes, can you recommend some vendors that I can refer to when I decide to buy one?
