I would like to know if I drop a constaint on a column whether Oracle will automatically change other constraints that involve that column? The reason I ask is because for two days in a row when I dropped constaints on a column that related constraint had the very same field removed. I asked the db admin if this is possible and she says no, but I don't see any other explanation for the changes. If it is possible I would appreciate a source I could read in order to see what the rules are.

The db developer just left behind some bad constraints..but managed to only fix up development machine! hence, I get phone calls at 8:00 in the morning about other env not working...
