I have a partition on my computer, I don't want to get rid of it, but I was wondering if there was a way that I can make the partitioned space smaller?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

There are ways, using various software, such as Partition Magic.

There is real danger in doing this though. Make sure you have a complete backup of your data, and your install disks ready though if something goes wrong while doing the conversion.

If it were me, I would make a backup, and then do a re-install, and make the new partitions at the OS level instead of using a partition tool.

Okay, thanks for the advice.

Hey, have you solved your problem?

You have to inform the "Operating System" running on your computer first??

And 2 solutions for you.

1. Solve it with Microsoft built-in "Disk Management", but this has limitation, you can only extend/shrink system partition with the contiguous partition.

2. Use a 3rd partition magic software to help you.

You can check more details here:

Only windows 7 is able to shrink a partition without the use of 3rd party software and this thread is in the Windows NT / 2000 / XP section.
