Can someone please tell me a way to make my (supposedly fast) xp machine to boot up in (hopefully) less than 10 seconds. I've tried bootvis, defrag, disk clean up, and i reinstalled windows xp about a month ago.

P.S. i have three machines @ home, one vista, two xp

Oh my God man. Seriously, 10 seconds is beyond reach

There is a tweaker I know that can achieve ten second boots but his methods are way above the norm.

See post No 19 at this Link

Here's a tip for you to try.

1. Click on the start button
2. Press R it will take you to Run well go to run
3. Type Regedit and press enter
this will open Registery Editor, now look for the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MECHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex

4. Now there find the key called "Startup Delay" double click on it.
5. In the box marked Base,Click Decimal, now its default value is 4800000
6. Change the value to 40000
7. Now close the Registery Editor and Restart Your Computer
You'll See The Result, you have done it.

just never shut it down

just never shut it down

LOL thats a good one

hibernate, thats what i do.

Not sure what you mean, but i shut my system down everyday and never get any problems.

Why Ten seconds? If need so then you need to reduce number of startup programs

Just MHO
