This would be better posted in the Internet Explorer Forum of this website. :) From what I have read on here, lots of people are having problems with their hotmail accounts as far as logging in and such. I know hotmail has been doing some changes, because mine has changed, but luckily I never had the problems that other people have. You might want to post your question in the IE forum, and maybe have a look through other threads with similiar problems and try any suggestions that were made in them. And maybe someone who can offer you some other help will come across your question and be able to help you out. Good luck! :)

I have a similar problem in my home PC. After I put user name and password and hit go, it goes into a white page. But I can successfully use my hotmail account at office and at cyber café. I tried with many setting changes in my browser, but still not able to solve the problem. Please help me. - Tapan

It was just miracle. Now I can logon to hotmail and see the inbox. Thanks Nanosani. Can I see the source code of it? Rather can I know what exactly, the fixer did? Thank you.

Hi,

No luck I'm afraid.

This issue started a couple of months ago and has now stopped me logging into anyone's hotmail address on this PS .. I have up to date Adaware and AVG anti virus and spyblaster delpoyed. Although no firewall.

Anyway symptoms are as follows:-

type in www.msn.co.uk

Main screen appears OK except top right hand corner which is white with following message

! Action canceled.
Internet Explorer was unable to link to webpage requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable.

If I then click on the hotmail link on MSN .. it brings up the usual sign in page asking for address and password.

Type in the relevant details (for any hotmail account) - press OK

and I get a pure white display except for address bar which has this VERY Long address

https://loginnet.passport.com/ppsecure/post.srf?id=2&svc=mail&cbid=24325&msppjph=1&lc=2057&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ehotmail%2Emsn%2Ecom%2Fcgi%2Dbin%2Fsbox%3F%5Flang%3DEN%266c6f7264%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Emsn%2Eco%2Euk&bk=1116537306

In the past I got round this by typing www.hotmail.com into the address box and it would open up .. But now it just returns to the sign in page requesting password to be re-entered .. etc etc .. ad infinitum .. until system becomes unstable .. and blue screen death.

Any ideas ?? :?:

Please advise

thanks

Des

I was having the same problem, on a winxp professional laptop, while on wireless, and went to this thread first:
http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/showthread.php?t=21321
I Registered the following system files
softpub.dll
wintrust.dll
initpki.dll
dssenh.dll
rsaenh.dll
gpkcsp.dll
sccbase.dll
slbcsp.dll
cryptdlg.dll
Tried again, but i still couldn't logon
Downloaded the zip file and ran the exe, rebooted and still couldn't logon to hotmail.
The wireless router was reset, and I was finally able to logon to the darn Hotmail!
Don't know exactly what caused the issue to begin with! :-S

Yeah I've had this problem also.
I sent an error report to MSN and got an e-mail response straight away. The response said they had checked the acct. and found no problems. I followed their advice which was basically to delete all cookies, and clear Int.Explorer cache and see if that solved the problem. It did !
I use Mozilla Firefox these days and found I kept getting directed to a page after logging out of my Hotmail acct. saying I wasn't "logged out" , so i've enabled all MSN sites to open in Internet Explorer. This fixed the second problem. There are multiple reasons for the problems I've read above, so one fix isn't going to suit all unfortunately.

I had the same problem with 2 freshly built XP boxes. Also using Netgear wireless hub. Fixed by setting MTU to 1492. Used a utility called tzcb10.exe. I can't remember where I got it. Probably ZDNET or CNET.

Worked for me after struggling for hours.

Tanks a bunch folks! I've got the fixer.. Unfortunately it didn't solve my login problems this go around, and alas the laptop has gone away, so I cannot further troubleshoot...

Thanks a bunch, Jordan

Just to add to the volumes of info here.. MSN Messenger 7.5 has a nifty looking connection troubleshooter built in.. Though it didn't resolve the problem for me, it did indicate 'ports' as a problem area. This leads me to believe that there is/was some sort of firewalling program installed that's still blocking ports (possibly secure connection ports) as this computer won't login to any secure sites..

Best of luck to all!

Jordan

At last someone having the same problem i can't connect to any secure sites either. Do you know of any way to check what is blocking it. I am a complete beginner with computers so anything unusual scares me to death.

I have had many problems with secure sites, most of all with Hotmail. But ironically only in Internet Explorer.

I'm probably gonna be slated for this, but I suggest using firefox .

Someone on page one mention problems with it not signing out of sites, I get that page, but it seems to cause me no difficulties at all.

Have fun:P

Get Firefox

This sounds like the hotmail ISP block problem. It happens like this:

1. Someone sends spoofed spam emails using your ISP as the return address.

2. A Hotmail user sick of the spam reports the email to Hotmail's automated spam reporting system.

3. Hotmail blocks access to your ISP as a result.

4. It stays blocked until someone reports that they can't access their account, and Hotmail unblocks the ISP.

I just had to post twice, because DaniWeb erroneously told me I posted an empty page.

Then it started moving the page around as I was trying to post. Get the chimps out of the control room!
