Argh!

Hey, I was wondering if someone could help me out here. Well for the past month I have been having trouble burning my Back-up dvd movies. What happens most of the time is, the movie will burn all the way through on "Nero" and when it gets done, I put it in my dvd player, and it will start playing fine. BUT then it will freeze, so I took the dvd out and I looked on the bottom of the dvd checking to see if anything happened while it was burning, and something has. It seems that my dvd burner will burn the movie 1/4 of the way onto the dvd, then I noticed that the burning stopped and you can see a line on the dvd where it skipped, then started back up again.

Now the dvd burner is making my dvds into coasters, "nero" will burn halfway on on to the dvd, and there is skip marks every where on it, and you can see these skip marks very well, they are at the most 1/2 inches apart from where it stopped and started burning again with the error saying "Error in the Log".

Now there is one more problem, "Nero" will burn the movie 3/4's of the way without any skips in the burning process, but it will stop dead, and say Error in the log. Now if someone can shed some light on what is happening here, I would really appreciate it.

First of all do not write the thread heading in this way as per Daniweb rules.

It may be caused due to cheap DVD's or may be a lense locater problem...you need give it in replacement if its in warranty.

This dvd burner is really old, it was burning at 2x, then i updated the firmware on it, now it burns close to 4x. I have used a dvd cleaner to brush off the lens, and that helped a little. The dvd burner doesn't do this all the time, I will get a good burn maybe 1 out of every 5.

There are many issues regarding DVD writers that it was not much successfull yet..try to replace the locater motor or lense or may be its centre support of disc attachment also...may be its help

I'm sort of low of resources right now, so that would have to be replaced some time later. I was thinking that maybe it could be Nero doing it, I'm going to try reinstalling the program, and if that doesn't work, then I'll try a different burning software.

I just want to make sure it's not something with the software first, I just want to check all other possibilities before I go shelling out money for no reason at all.

good..when you burn any disc disable virusscan temperaly to free out some resources.

I tried burning something again, but this time I saved the log. Now I am not sure, but I think it is an error on Neros part, I seen in the log it says

D: CdRom0: SCSIStatus(x02) WinError(0) NeroError(-1066)

See where it says NeroError, could it just be Nero, or is it just something that I'm seeing wrong?
