Hello all,

Hopefully someone can help me??

Problem:

I have just had my broadband (not wireless) connected a couple of weeks ago (computer’s been offline for a while) and all was working fine. Last week it started losing the connection where I have to power down computer and modem to get it to work again… if I leave it off for half hour I will get about 10 mins of usage.

It then says that a network cable has been unplugged (this is not the case)

This is the result I get when it has disconnected me

When I do ipconfig /renew: it times out (unable to contact dhcp server)
When I do ipconfig release it gives auto configuration ip 169,.etc….
Subnet mask255.255.0.0

any help greatly appreciated :)

The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from one or more time sources, however none of the sources are currently accessible. No attempt to contact a source will be made for 14 minutes. NtpClient has no source of accurate time.

The DNS Client service could not contact any DNS servers for a repeated number of attempts. For the next 30 seconds the DNS Client service will not use the network to avoid further network performance problems. It will resume its normal behavior after that. If this problem persists, verify your TCP/IP configuration, specifically check that you have a preferred (and possibly an alternate) DNS server configured. If the problem continues, verify network conditions to these DNS servers or contact your network administrator.

1. netsh winsock reset
2. play with the MTU, maybe it's too high
3. replace the NIC

Hey, I'm new to these boards and don't know that much about computers. I understand the third point but could someone explain to me how to accomplish the first and second point?
