169 IP Saga HELP!!!!!!

Is there anyone here who has a easy fix for releasing a 169 ip. Mainly what cause this to happen. and how it can be overcome. any suggestions would be gretly appreciated.

Do you mean by releasing an IP address from a specific computer? If you have access to that computer the you can use the command
"ipconfig /release *con*"
where *con* is the name of the connection that has the ipaddress assigned to it
eg. "Local Area Connection 1"
