Hello

I was wondering if I could get some help with a virus.

My internet explorer constantly wants to close, saying "microsoft internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" usually after I get a pop up that reads "you may have been infected with the blackworm virus..." or "... Lupar A virus..." or I get pop ups for Winantivirus 2006.

This happenes after about 2-5 minutes online.

I have several virus fix programs on my computer from fixing a previous virus... and when I run Spybot, it fixes programs: Hitbox, Advertising.com, Avenue A Inc, CoreMetrics, Double CLick, DSO Exploit MediaPlex, and WebTrends Live.

Please let me know if there's a path I can take to fix these.

Thank you

-D. Scott

Hello,

The ewido scan was successful, however, about 90% through the scan twice in a row, the program had an error and needed to shut down. So the time it did fully scan, my computer was clean and nothing showed up on the logfile.

Hello,

I somehow acquired a new virus that I cannot get rid of at all. It causes popups to happen frequently, as soon as I turn my computer on; and causes my computer to run slower. I had a virus before, so I have some virus removal programs already installed: hijackthis, spybot, ad-aware, etc.
If anyone could help me fix my computer it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

So Far, after these last steps, every corrupted program on my computer seems to be fixed!

I can now use AIM, get into my Hotmail account, type web adresses again without the "www.", use Kazaa (carefully), my home page is fixed...

Hopefully this is to last. I am a little scared to restart my computer again, so I think I'll leave it on for a while.

Thanks again for the help.

Hi, sorry it took me so long to reply.

I went through the new steps.

I was unable to navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\mfcvp.exe/s which is the path of Network Security Securtiy Sevrice, so it was not deleted.

Also, I couldn't find (to delete): C:\WINDOWS\system32mfcvp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wolno.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iehb.dll
And, regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDHelper.dll"
could not be found when I tried to run it.

When I rebooted, my old home page was back, so thats a plus.

Do you think I'll ever fully rid my computer of its infections?

Thanks for all of the help! I'll do whatever it takes.

Thank you for replying so quickly.

I followed the new steps...

Except, I could not delete the file 1.tmp in the "temp" folder, if that effects anything. Other files simply labled with numbers and letters in this folder, I deleted, but I was warned of potential damage to the computer.

My file REFIEBAR.DLL is located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11

This is the new log... hopefully a little cleaner!

Thanks for the help.

Hello, I have unfortunately acquired a virus called "home search assistent"... I have noticed that it might be a pretty common virus. I was wondering if anyone could help me or maybe give some advice to remove the virus and it's compentents. My hotmail account is now disrupted, AOL instant messanger no longer works, and adware popups along with many others occur while I am online. I have windows xp, and the virus spread to the other accounts on the computer as well.

I appreciate any help I can get with this thing.
