My wife got a VeryfitPro fitness monitor for Christmas. I have the app loaded on my Android (6) phone and was hoping to install a companion app on my Windows 10 laptop but the only thing available is to install an Android emulator on Windows 10 then load the phone app into that. I did a google search and found a list of the 7 best emulators. The list was 1. BlueStacks 1. Remix OS Player 1. Droid4x 1. MEmu 1. Nox Player 1. AMIDuOS 1. Windroy I tried Bluestacks and ended up at an online poker site. Remix resulted …

After months of waiting, I am ready to invest in a gaming laptop with all the features included. Looking for something with great graphics and performance, possibly 16GB Ram. My budget is under $2000 and brand is not a priority.

A survey of attendees at Infosecurity Europe earlier this month showed 70 percent in favour of the dictionary definition (in this case the Cambridge Dictionary) of a hacker being amended. The amendment in question being to remove 'illegality' from the definition. The current definition of a hacker is "a person who is skilled in the use of computer systems, often one who illegally obtains access to private computer systems". So what do you reckon, DaniWebbers? Is it time that hacker was reclaimed entirely (rather than relying upon black and white labels) and if so what word should replace it as …

I am running Windows 10 64 bit on an HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor with 8 GB RAM. I just learned the max RAM for this computer is 32GB. Though the computer runs fine as is, I've given some thought to upgrading the RAM. As I do not do any gaming and use the computer in just an 'ordinary' fashion, I'm wondering how much RAM would be overkill. For example, would I see more speed and general overall operating improvement at 16 GB? And even more at 32GB or no? Thanks

My toshiba laptop screen suddenly turned black, but if looking closely you can still barely see what is on the screen, like the screen saver turned it self on, but I restarted my computer many times and it loads up but still no results. I had this problem about 4 months ago, so i called toshiba helpline and they were very helpful and gave me instructions while on the phone. The guy on the phone told me to shut down the system, unplug it, take the battery out and press ON button for 20 seconds, then realise the finger and wait …

Sophos software has recent.y made their [Sandboxie](https://www.sandboxie.com/) software free for personal use and will soon be making it open source. For anyone unfamiliar with Sandboxie, it implements an isolated enviroment where you can run programs (even install them) without fear of affecting your system. When you run a program from within a sandbox, any files, registry settings, etc. are made within the sandbox. For example, if you save a file to the desktop, it will appear in the Sandboxie desktop (with an option to move it to the actual desktop). This is a much more convenient way to test new …

In keeping with tradition, Microsoft has released the latest update before resolving a number of outstanding issues. But at least they now provide a more centralized location for getting update information. The home page (dashboard) can be found [here](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/) and the specific page for the latest update can be found [here](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-1903).

If you like to use Sticky Notes, do yourself a huge favour and stop using the Windows 10 Sticky Notes tool. Instead, go to [Zhorn Software](https://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/) and download Stickies by Tom Revell. It works much better, has more features, is very well documented and is very intuitive. You can also download a [Skinner Tool](https://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/skins/skinner.html) if you want to design your own interface, or you can use one of the many prebuilt skins (although I prefer the one that came with an older version which is attached here). I've been using it for several years and I freaking love it. To …

I posted a question last week on Microsoft Technet and during the resulting discussion the following was posted: >VBScript will be gone in the next version of Windows. Almost all references to VBScript have disappeared from MS sites. In all the columns I've read about what's new and what's being removed from Windwos 10 in the spring update, no mention was made about vbScript. Has anyone else come across anything? I have a (rude word)-ton of scripts I'm going to have to convert unless I can just copy/restore cscript.exe and wscript.exe.

In the modern world, it’s easy to understand that data is absolutely essential to many corporations and organizations. There is an ever-growing need to understand the needs and desires of your customer base, so that you may tailor your products/services/platform as much as possible to meet these particular needs. However, we also are coming to a point where human beings are beginning to realize that the way that their data is being used can be quite harmful. One of the most obvious examples is the [Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal](https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/19/technology/facebook-cambridge-analytica-explained.html), in which data from Facebook’s user base was used to influence a …

I want to see your suggestions on comparing CPanel and FASTPANEL. I used CPanel for some time but later I changed to FASTPANEL which is absolutely free but provides you with the same opportunities. Also FASTPANEL's design looks much better than CPANEL's one. So now I can't understand why people pay for CPanel. What panel do you guys use and why?

From my understanding, LED monitors turn each pixel on sequentially at such a high speed that the human eye can't observe it, but how does it make the necessary connections? For example, for a monitor made with a single color of LED across a standard HD resolution (say 1940 x 1080) there would have to be 3020 connections assuming its built in a grid. I'm assuming I'm missing something.

Here's something I've wondered about for years and never got around to asking. A recent example: I reinstalled Win 10. I transfered all data from Windows old to the new OS. When I highlight the Windows Old folder, it says it is empty. but when I start to delete the folder, the progression bar shows several hundred files being deleted. If the folder is empty, where do these figures come from? Thanks

I'm asking this question in the context of a satellite internet service with expensive download limits... If you just accept all the recommended updates for Windows 10 (creator's update, security etc) for a single Home Edition machine how many Gigabytes will that represent in a typical 12 month period? Eg: I'm thinking maybe 5 gig for one major update plus maybe an average of 500 meg/month other stuff?

I’m dealing with a small SSD, and a 1 terabyte HDD. My issue is half the programs you install these days don’t even bother asking you where you’d like to install. About 90% of them I’m fine having on the HDD. What on earth - if anything - can I do to move an entitled, SSD-privileged program to my HDD and how do I repair the ensuing errors it makes?

Let me share how I began to understand Microsoft: A long time back when I went to Microsoft Redmond's campus for a seminar. I had two things I wanted to share since I thought Microsoft would want to look into this. 1. A CD that when put into the PC would cause the PC to lock up. I didn't know why, I just thought it showed a bug. 2. A jpeg file that when copied to the desktop would render that user's account dead. Even in safe mode until the file was deleted. I waited my turn to meet with …

I bought two refurbished (?) HP SFF computers from Amazon. They were older computers fitted with Win10 Pro. I have been pleased with my purchases. I developed a problem with one of the computers that I could not correct. A system restore would have corrected the problem, but I could never get a successful system restore. I decided to reinstall Win10 but I did not have an installation disk. I went to the MS site and downloaded an ISO image of Win10. Using Rufus set to MBR, I burned a bootable copy of Win10 to both a thumb drive and …

A few times it did this after I swapped the drives out but now the computer will not even boot to a Linux Mint ISO USB or DVD with the SSD drive in because it gives an error saying that there's no hard …

For those very new to this area, please google SIM SWAP and discover a very nasty security issue with all phones we use today. At first glance the new security researcher might think I'm exaggerating. Do your own research and tell me you don't find this to be one of the most foul, nasty exploits I've seen in years. This exploit was recently used to highjack a writer's phone at https://www.zdnet.com/article/sim-swap-horror-story-ive-lost-decades-of-data-and-google-wont-lift-a-finger/ His case is still developing with loss of accounts, tax returns he stored on the Clouds, and a 25,000USD Bitcoin purchase. And we're not talking thousands of dollars in …

The usual Google research was done, registry changes made and still it persisted. As all you needed to do was tap the shift key a few times to turn it off I left it as it was until I had more free …

This question should be put to Nero Burning. I tried to join their forum but couldn't due to a domain error I didn't understand. I want to burn a Windows10 ISO image to a dual layer DVD disk. I have ordered some blank DVDs with 2 burning surfaces on one side. I installed Nero Info Tool and checked the …
