Enable Event Scheduler to handle event.

Hi EveryOne,

I am working on 5.1.18 mysql community edition. It has a large number of records. I wanted to create an event to handle some particular tasks regularly. So I googled and found that i would have to set a global variable event_schedular=ON. So I have run following command:

SET GLOBAL EVENT_SCHEDULER=1;

But it gives following error :

ERROR 1574 (HY000): Cannot proceed because system tables used by Event Scheduler were found damaged at server start

I dont know what it means.I have upgraded mysql databaser previously and all the stuff is working well except these event issues. I have tried to find out solution but doesnt found anything useful.

If any one have any clue about it please reply. Thanks In advance.:)
