i got a new laptop, and when i try to run dev-c++ nothing happens and i am forced to shut the .exe down using task manager. I've tried running it under administrator but nothing seems to help. It installs fine but when i try running it it crashes. If anyone knows solution to this problem please tell me asap. Any help is appreciated.

Jump to Postwell, considering that it has not been updated for years, dev c++ has some reported issues with vista.
Before forcing yourself into a decision between vista or devc++, you may try the devc++ forums and mailing lists here and do further googling.

To get better help than this response you'd probably want to mention which version of dev-cpp you're trying, what operating system you're using, and you'd likely want to direct your questions to the dev-cpp authors.
