I have been getting a lot of error messages using IE. Some list specific files. I also often get message that Explorer has caused an error in <unknown>. Frustrating to keep restarting. Can anyone help. I'm running Windows ME. Thanks.

I have been doing some more research on the problem I am experiencing and came across this info on KB891711.exe
http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=42672
The problems described in this thread sound very similar to what I am experiencing when booting. Anyone have any further information on this? I have used the System Start Up Menu in Spybot and unchecked this program so that it does not run on start up. I see the KB891711 Update listed in Add/Remove programs. Is it okay to remove this Update?
Thanks for any thoughts on this issue.

Thank you for your help. I will try your suggestions and see if that fixes the problem.
Here is some further information that may help to diagnose the problem. Every week I run Scan Disk and Disk Defrag as scheduled tasks. Last night niether ran. There was a message on my machine this morning telling me that Defrag could not run because there are errors on my hard drive that need to be fixed first. When I try to run Scan Disk, it keeps restarting and I eventually get a pop-up message saying that it has restarted 10 times. How do I get Scan Disk run through the complete process?
Thanks again for your help

Recently I have been getting various error messages when booting up Windows ME. Usually, I get to the desk top, but as the sys tray is loading programs it crashes and I get a blue screen with error codes. This usually happens at about the same point in the boot up process. There are a number of different error messages that I get... the last one was "VWIN32(05) + 00002065 Error: OE: 28: C02AFED" The other day I figured out how to boot in Safe Mode and did a system restore, but that has not helped. Any suggestions....

Recently I am starting to get a pop up when browsing in Internet Explorer that says "Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL.32.DLL. Explorer will now close" I can continue browsing, but the pop up remains on my screen. The only way to get rid of it is to restart. Any ideas.

Is Ad-Aware SE different than Ad-Aware 6.0. I have 6.0, but I do not see all of the options to select that you indicate. I changed some of the options as you indicated and ran the scan again. I usually run both Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D weekly, but I still seem to get this message when surfing that "explorer has caused an error in osmim.dll..."
I did not find a download for Ad-Aware SE using the link you provided. Also, is Spybot S&D 1.3 a newer version than Spybot S&D. Thanks for your help.

Also go to add\remove programs and uninstall; Windows AdService and Mysearch or Mywaysearch or Mywebsearch if found.
Found Windows Adservice in Add/Remove Programs, but also received a warning (prior to removing) stating that certain free software programs may not function if this program is removed. Are you sure its safe to remove this program?

Piggie backing old threads is not allowed ,as after you do this ,start a new threas of you own and post a new hijack log to fix the rest .
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
First, download LSPfix here: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
Launch the application, and click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox.
Check all instances of 'osmim.dll' (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane.
Then click Finish.
Okay. Thank you.

Was doing some research on how to fix osmim.dll and came across your post. When browsing I often get a message: "Explorer has caused an error in osmim.dll. Explorer will now shut down. Can you help me fix this. I have followed the steps you recommended to previous poster. Here is my HijackThis Logfile. Thanks for any help you can give me.
