First of all, this is my first blog post and I just sort of want to see how it turns out. So rather than going into much depth I just want to share an observation.
Earlier this week I was given a PHP programming evaluation prior to an interview. It asked all sorts of questions about subsets of PHP capabilities that I had no prior experience with.
However I was given 3 minutes per question, and with the help of php.net's documentation, I scored in the "advanced" range. Which is fine by me, but it makes me wonder. The organizations that require these programming evaluations, do they realize
a) that what they are actually measuring is someone's ability to find answers quickly, and
b) that this is actually more important than inherent knowledge
