Is there any good idea for detecting monitor port ( whether it is connected to pc or not) ?

No body wants to help me ????????? :(
I want to know some good idea ; how to detect monitor port from pc. if (second) monitor is not connected to pc, how can i know that (video) connector/port is working properly or not??
