If you're looking for how long the system has been alive, then the nearest equivalent is uptime
http://www.linuxmanpages.com/man1/uptime.1.php
Which for your purposes I guess is how long the 'init' process has been running for. You need to do some digging of your own if you want to get this information programmatically.
