Coldfusion 8 CFChart xaxis gridlines

Hi All,
I've just upgraded from MX6.1 to CF8 and have noticed a couple of differences with CFChart. My chartseries line graph data consists of numeric readings taken every 2 hours each day. In MX6.1, I display the x-axis labels for each day and the vertical grid-lines correspond to each day along the axis, with the chart plotting all the values for a given month.
Using the same code in CF8, I've found that the vertical grid-lines are now associated with each data point instead of each day, making for a very busy-looking background to the line graph that's plotted. I've tweaked the .XML with the WebCharts3D utility but just can't get the lines to display only for the days listed on the x-axis. I also can't seem to get the data marker points to be black instead of being the same color as the plotted line, but that's something I can live with if I had to choose between the two items listed above.
Any help that can point me at a solution will be greatly appreciated.
